Vivienne Byrd is a fifty-four-year-old, solitary, unmarried, childless woman. She has been working in the same factory for three decades, and dreams of going to Paris. One day she meets Pablo Basara - a new hire at her company, thirty-five-years her junior. He is a confused young man, with a closet full of demons and a precocious interest in older women. They run into one another after work and spend a spontaneous afternoon together which leads to a drunken one-night stand. This misguided interlude turns Vivienne’s world upside down and shines a spotlight on her quiet existence. She is forced to deal with the ramifications at work, a shocking medical surprise which will leave her and those around her stunned… and with her dream of going to Paris hanging in the balance.
